Local residents helped Olds RCMP discover more than $300,000 in stolen goods last week, the detachment said Monday. Last week, community members reported a hit and run collision. Days later, those residents found the vehicle that fled the scene, RCMP said.

RCMP officers found out the vehicle was stolen, and at the same time seized a second vehicle and trailer. A search warrant was executed on two Olds properties, and RCMP seized three Ford trucks, a cargo trailer, three snowmobiles, three motorcycles and a large number of performance wheel rims, they said.

Both suspects, 38-year-old men from Olds, have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. One will appear in court on Jan. 31 and the other on March 14.

Olds is about 80 kilometres north of Calgary.
